Natural Gout Treatments can be found here

Anyone who suffers from gout knows how painful this condition is. It is a type of arthritis that is brought on due to high levels of uric acid in the blood that form into crystals in the joints. This causes the swelling typical of arthritis. Unlike with most types of arthritis, with gout it is mainly just one joint that is attacked at a time, typically the big toe but not always. Those who want a natural gout treatment for gout symptoms should focus on doing what they can to prevent future attacks of gout.

One of the causes of gout is a diet that contains a lot of foods high in purines. Going on a low purine diet should be one step in a natural gout treatment for gout symptoms. This means avoiding scallops, sardines, mackerel, anchovies, herring, sweetbreads, liver, beef kidneys, brains, asparagus, dried beans and peas, mushrooms, gravy, and game meat. Alcohol should also be avoided since it tends to increase the percentage of uric acid in the blood. Beer is one of the worst offenders when it comes to alcohol since it is high in purines. Make sure that you drink lots of liquids in order to keep the amount of uric acid low.

Being overweight also contributes to attacks of gout, so you should try to lower your weight, but do so in a gradual way. If you go on a very low calorie diet your body will actually try to conserve uric acid in your blood and make your gout even worse. Low carb diets are also not a good idea for those suffering from this condition. Exercise is a good way to get rid of some of the extra weight that you might be carrying.

Hopefully if you take some of the steps mentioned above it will help to work as a natural gout treatment for gout symptoms. However, you may need to take other medications should you get an acute attack of gout in order to minimize the pain and help to end the attack quickly. These include NSAIDs and corticosteroids.  If possible, avoid taking prescription medication for gout.

It seems being overweight is one of the main causes of gout. That was the case for me anyways…
